Shipping a mount is no small task — one bump or temperature swing can undo months of craftsmanship. Whether you’re sending a trophy home from a hunting trip or delivering to a client across the country, careful preparation is key to ensuring it arrives in perfect condition.

Start by reinforcing all fragile areas, especially antlers, ears, and tails. Use soft padding like foam or bubble wrap, but avoid taping directly to fur or feathers. For larger mounts, wrap them loosely in breathable material before adding layers of protection.

Choose a sturdy, double-walled box or custom crate that fits the mount snugly. Fill empty spaces with lightweight packing material to prevent shifting during transit. Always label the box “Fragile” and “This Side Up” clearly.

Temperature control matters too. Avoid shipping during extreme weather and consider climate-regulated freight options for sensitive specimens.

Tip: Take photos of your mount before packing and include instructions for unpacking safely. It reassures the recipient and helps document condition if any damage occurs during shipping.
